What Language Do CNC Machines Use?

Not all CNC machines use the same language. The most common is G-code, which controls axis movements, spindle speed, and cutting operations. It is complemented by M-code, which handles auxiliary functions such as tool changes, dust extraction, and program stops. In addition to the standard language, there may be proprietary variants that build on G-code and extend its core functionality for specific machining needs.

What's the Difference Between 3-, 4-, and 5-Axis CNC Machines?

The main difference lies in the number of degrees of freedom and in how the tool or the workpiece can move. On a 3-axis machine, the tool moves only along the linear X, Y, and Z axes. A 4-axis CNC adds the A rotary axis, which rotates the workpiece around one of the linear axes. Finally, a 5-axis machine combines two rotary axes with the three linear ones, allowing the tool to approach the material from almost any angle.
