EasyWOOD Installation on SCM Morbidelli x400: CAD/CAM Integration for Storsjökök AB

Index

In the woodworking industry, efficiency is everything. The quality of a custom kitchen starts with the seamless CAD/CAM integration between a high-performance software and a reliable CNC machining center.

In this article, we walk you through the EasyWOOD installation carried out by our specialized technician Alan Pellegrini at the facilities of Storsjökök AB, one of Sweden’s leading custom kitchen manufacturers. Alan handled the complete CNC software installation and configuration of EasyWOOD — our CAD/CAM software for woodworking — on an SCM Morbidelli x400 CNC machining center.

Read on to find out how the EasyWOOD SCM machine integration was carried out and how it helped Storsjökök AB optimize the productivity and efficiency of their production line.

Who Is Storsjökök AB?

Storsjökök AB is a Swedish company specializing in the production and distribution of custom kitchens.

For Storsjökök AB, a kitchen is more than just a functional space — it’s a place where lasting memories are made, and for that reason, it needs a personal touch that makes it truly one of a kind. Whether the preference leans toward a minimal or a rustic style, Storsjökök AB offers a wide assortment of materials and colors to create a kitchen tailored to each customer’s needs.

In addition to a diverse and comprehensive product range, the company relies on a network of authorized dealers across Sweden, complemented by a custom design service. Every kitchen is drawn in 3D by a dedicated designer based on the customer’s measurements and preferences, with the option to order custom-made doors and frames and receive the product either fully assembled or as a flat pack.

This strong commitment to customization and flexible production is what made the CAD/CAM integration between EasyWOOD, our woodworking software, and the SCM Morbidelli x400 CNC machining center a natural and necessary step.

This technological synergy allows Storsjökök AB to efficiently manage even the most complex production runs with the precision and consistency required by the highest quality standards.

The SCM Morbidelli x400 CNC Machining Center

The Morbidelli x400 model is a next-generation CNC nesting machining center developed by SCM Group for flexible, high-variability production environments. It is the ideal solution for manufacturers like Storsjökök AB.

From a technical standpoint, several specifications make this SCM machining center stand out. The milling unit reaches a vector speed on the X-Y axes of up to 113 m/min, paired with a motor output of up to 13.5 kW for 5-axis machining and a spindle rotation speed of up to 24,000 RPM.

Another key performance factor is the tool change speed, clocking in at under 15 seconds, keeping the production flow uninterrupted.

Finally, the drilling unit features 21 independent vertical spindles and 12 independent horizontal spindles, a configuration that ensures the precision and repeatability required in the production of kitchen components.

How We Integrated EasyWOOD on the SCM Morbidelli x400

How does the EasyWOOD CAD/CAM integration on the SCM Morbidelli x400 CNC machining center work in practice? Our specialized technician Alan Pellegrini managed the entire process, from the initial EasyWOOD setup through to the live production testing session.

During the testing phase, kitchen cabinet components were produced using Nesting on a single panel. This approach made it possible to:

  • optimize the Nesting layout across the panel surface
  • maximize the number of parts cut from each panel
  • minimize material waste and offcuts

Through this EasyWOOD-SCM machine integration test, we were able to validate full compatibility between our software and the Morbidelli x400 machining center, demonstrating how the end-to-end workflow — from design to machining — can run continuously with no manual interruptions.
